Frank Robinson broke a 5-5 tie, with a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning, sending the Phenoms past the 1956 Detroit Tigers, for their fifth straight win. Robinson had been a slight power slump, having not gone deep in the last 12 games. Joe Jackson added his ninth home run in this game as well. Vean Gregg started and went six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits.
