The 1956 Milwaukee Braves were able to edge the Phenoms, 2-1, behind Warren Spahn. The big lefty went eight innings and allowed just one unearned run, that coming on a three-base error by centerfielder, Bill Bruton. Frank Robinson was hit by Spahn twice. He scored the Phenoms only run in the sixth.
Milwaukee’s runs both came via home run. Eddie Mathews hit a solo blast in the first inning, Johnny Logan smacked the eventual game winner, in the bottom of the eighth. Hideo Nomo started and went all the way for the Phenoms. His line: 8IP, 2R, 6H, 8K, 2BB, 2HR.
