Pete Alexander joins the 15-win club, by tossing a complete game, 6-1, victory over the 1956 Cincinnati Reds. Alex allowed one run on an Ed Bailey solo home run. He gave up just four hits in all. He struck out four, walked just one and hit one batter.
On the offensive side, Joe Jackson clubbed a pair of solo blasts and also singled. Eddie Murray also went deep. Troy Tulowitzki and Andre Dawson chipped in with two hits each.
As is the custom, Frank Robinson switched over to play for his rookie year Reds. He couldn’t get anything done against Alexander, however, as he was 0-4 at the plate.
