The Phenoms took a 3-1 lead into the seventh, but the ’58 Yanks loaded the bases, on starter, Jose Fernandez, then cashed in, as Andy Carey clubbed a grand slam, to put N.Y. up, six to three. His replacement, Mark Eichhorn, didn’t fare much better, as he surrendered a triple to Hank Bauer and a rbi double, to Tony Kubek. The Phenoms managed to scratch a couple runs across in the top of the eighth, to get Fernandez off the hook.
