Another game which had an amazing swing from one team to another. For the first seven innings, the 1958 Philadelphia Phillies, behind Robin Roberts, were in complete control. Roberts was pitching a shutout and had a 4-0 lead. The Phenoms scored their first run when Frank Robinson hit a solo home run in the top of the eighth.

In the top of the ninth, Carlton Fisk hit a two-run single and later, the Phenoms managed to load the bases on Turk Farrell, who had replaced Roberts. The Phillies decided to bring in Jack Meyer, to face Jim Lefebvre, who was brought in to pinch hit for Dustin Pedroia. He made the most of his opportunity, by clubbing a grand slam home run, his first circuit clout of the tour. Seth Morehead was Philadelphia’s fourth pitcher of the year. He had his own troubles as, he walked Willie Mays, then surrendered another homer to Frank Robinson, his second of the day. That blow was Robby’s 30th of the year.
