WP- HIDEO NOMO (13-6) LP-CAMILO PASQUAL
Hideo Nomo was forced to leave the game after six and one third innings, due to arm tightness; however, he was brilliant to that point, striking out 13 Senators, in that span. He allowed no runs on four hits. He did walk three and hit one batter. Nomo also tied a Strat house record, when he fanned six consecutive batters, starting with Jim Lemon, to begin the bottom of the second inning, through Eddie Yost, to end the third. Joe Page and Bruce Sutter would finish up, keeping the shutout intact. Page pitched two thirds of an inning and Sutter, the final two innings, allowing just one more hit.
There were some offensive highlights as well. Orlando Cepeda was a perfect, 5-5, on the day, while Cal Ripken was 4-5, with three runs batted in.
