The Phenoms took a 3-0 lead into the sixth, but the Tigers made it interesting, getting two runs in that inning, one on a solo blast by Gus Zernial. Alexander was able to finish the inning, then Mark Fidrych took over, pitching scoreless ball over the next three frames. Eddie Murray had a pair of doubles and Dustin Pedroia, a double and a single, in the win.
