The Phenoms snapped a two-game losing streak, with a 4-3 victory over the 1958 Chicago Cubs. Kerry Wood earned win #16, going seven innings, while allowing two runs on five hits. He struck out a dozen in that span.
Moe Drabowsky left after five innings, trailing, 4-1. The Cubs bullpen certainly did their job to keep Chicago in the game. Neither Bill Henry nor Dolan Nichols gave up a hit over the last four innings. Chicago got a run in the sixth and another in the eighth, on a Walt Moryn home run.
