All the scoring came in the sixth inning in this low scoring affair, won by the ’58 St. Louis Cardinals, 3-2. In the top of the sixth, Andre Dawson and Eddie Murray each doubled off Sam Jones. Orlando Cepeda then singled in Murray, to give the Phenoms a 2-0 lead.

The Cards would answer immediately. In the last of the sixth, Pete Alexander gave up four singles, a walk and a sacrifice fly, as St. Louis took the lead, 3-2. That score would hold up, as Phil Paine and Lindy McDaniel pitched the final three innings for the Cardinals.

Joe Jackson has a fifteen-game hit streak. It was kept alive when he singled in his final at bat of the game.
