Vean Gregg lasted just one and two third innings, as he was bombed for five runs. Joe Page took over and gave up another four, one of those, unearned. Kansas City starter, Ned Garver put up zeroes to go with his nine-run lead, until the Phenoms finally broke through in the top of the seventh. Eddie Murray walked, Carlton Fisk singled, then Cal Ripken belted a three-run home run. Frank Robinson would add a solo blast in the eighth. For K.C., Preston Ward went deep. Joe DeMaestri hit a two-run triple.
