The Phenoms dropped a low scoring affair to kick off the 1960 phase of their barnstorming tour, losing, 2-1, to the Boston Red Sox.
The visitors opened the scoring in the top of the second inning, when Orlando Cepeda singled, stole second and, two batters later, was driven in on a Troy Tulowitzki single. Boston would tie the game in the last of the sixth, on a solo home run from Ted Williams. They would take the lead for good in the seventh, when Pete Runnels doubled, later coming home on a Bobby Thomson single.
Jose Fernandez had a quality start for the Phenoms, allowing two runs in seven innings, but could get no run support.
