The Kansas City Athletics were a last place team in 1960, but you wouldn’t have known it on the Barnstorming Tour. They tagged Hideo Nomo for three home runs, in a 5-2 win over the rookies. Because the bullpen has been used so heavily of late, Nomo was asked to give as many innings as possible. He responded with a complete game effort. His line was five runs allowed, on eight hits. He struck out five and walked one. The long balls were the killer, two of them were two run clouts.

The Phenoms offense couldn’t get much going. Dustin Pedroia scored on a double play, in the third inning and Eddie Murphy hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.
