Phenomenal Pitching Seasons

In this project, I’ll be replaying some of the best pitching seasons in Strat-O- Matic, which I have cards for. I’ll begin with Denny McLain’s 1968 effort for the Detroit Tigers. 1968 was, of course, the year of the pitcher. The strike zone was expanded and the box men totally dominated. To illustrate, Carl Yastrzemski won the American League batting title, with an average of.301. McLain won both the A.L. MVP and the A.L. Cy Young Award, with a record of 31 and 6. He had an ERA of 1.96 and struck out 280, while allowing just 63 walks. He had 41 starts that year and I’ll be replaying each one.
