One day after Sam McDowell threw a no hitter for Cleveland against Detroit, Denny McLain returned the favor, whitewashing the Yankees, 7-0, while allowing not a single hit along the way. In fact, the only thing standing between McLain and a perfect game, was a ninth inning walk to Billy Cox. McLain joins Paul Splittorff, Mudcat Grant, Dazzy Vance and most recently, Sam McDowell, as the only players with no hitters in my games.
