McLain lost a 3-2 heartbreaker to the Cleveland Indians and this time it was his fault. He took a 2-0 lead into the top of the eighth, courtesy of a Willie Horton, two run blast. McLain retired the first two batters but then, Jose Cardenal and Lee Maye both singled and Cleveland’s Horton, Tommie, belted a home run of his own, putting the Indians up, 3-2. That’s how it held up and Denny now has five losses, just one short of what he put up in real life for 1968.
