Denny McLain rebounded from a very rough stretch by tossing his eighth shutout of the year, defeating the Chicago White Sox, 2-0. It is the second time he has blanked the Sox. It is his second, one-hit shutout, having pitched one earlier in April. McLain logs his first win since July 16th. One bright spot for McLain is that he already has two more shutouts than in real life. Speaking of real life, this game was one of Denny’s worst starts in actual play. He only pitched five and two thirds’ innings, allowing nine runs, though seven of them were unearned.
