Compared to his usual output, Gibby has bit a bit underwhelming over his last two games. He has only managed to go six innings in each one, though he was fortunate to pick up a win in his latest outing. The Cards broke out to a 3-0 lead, having scored a run in the second, third and fourth innings. Gibson then faltered a bit, giving up two runs in the bottom of the fifth, largely aided by an error by Orlando Cepeda. A walk and two singles led to a third run in the fifth, tying the game. That would end Bob’s night, but luckily, St. Louis was able to score in the top of the seventh, with him still as the pitcher of record. The Cardinals would add an insurance run in the top of the ninth, to insure the 5-3 victory.
