Bob Gibson came away with a no-decision, as the Atlanta Braves edged the St. Louis Cardinals, 2-1. The Braves got their first run on a Mike Lum home run, hit off Gibson in the bottom of the fifth. Roger Maris pinch hit for Bob, in the top of the eighth and belted a solo homer, tying the game at one all. However, in the bottom of the eighth, Felipe Alou hit a two out double, then scored the eventual game winner on a single by Felix Milian.
