Bob Gibson 1968 St. Louis Cardinals

June 15, 1968. vs. Cincinnati Reds at Busch Stadium

Cincinnati 1 St. Louis 0

WP- Gary Nolan LP- Bob Gibson (8-4)

Real Life: 9IP, 0R, 4H, 13K, 0BB. W-(7-5)

Replay: 8IP, 1R, 4H, 5K, 3BB. L-(8-4)The Cardinals have lost both of Bob Gibson’s last two starts. He can hardly be blamed, though. Both were one run games, and he put up quality starts in both as well. In this latest contest against the Cincinnati Reds, Gibson was outpitched by Gary Nolan, who joined the one hit shutout club, in the 2-1 victory. Gibson allowed one run in the first inning and the Reds never looked back. He shut them down the rest of the way, but once again, a lack of run support really hurt him. Nolan walked four, but Mike Shannon’s double in the second was the only run Cincinnati gave up.
