Replay: 7IP, 1R, 2H, 4K, 2BB. W-(13-4)
Bob Gibson got a couple innings rest from his usual nine innings of work, as Bob Tolan’s three run home run gave the Cardinals a six-run lead after seven innings. Dick Hughes pitched the final two frames, as the Cardinals beat the Houston Astros, 7-1l. Gibby has now won his last five starts in a row and has a sparkling 1.36 ERA. Lou Brock and Julian Javier each had a pair of doubles and Orlando Cepeda had a rbi triple. It should be noted that in real life at this time in 1968, Gibson was dealing with an injured finger on his pitching hand and would be rested for a start or two. Those missed starts will of course, be reflected in the replay.
