Replay: 9IP, 1R, 3H, 9K, 1BB. HR. W-(6-1)
The Philles end their four-game home stand, with a 5-1 win over the New York Mets. Steve Carlton went the distance, pitching a three hitter, with nine strikeouts. A solo blast by Rusty Staub prevented the shutout. Carlton is on a surge in the replay, as opposed to where he was in real life at this time in 1972. Steve had lost three in a row and was nine and four, with not a single, no-decision. In my replay, however, Carlton is 6 and 1, with two no-decisions, to this point.
