Despite a less than stellar effort, Steve Carlton was able to earn his eighth win, with a 4 to 3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Lefty gave up two runs (one unearned) and eight hits in just six innings. He also had a wild pitch and hit a batter. Bucky Brandon and Mac Scarce pitched scoreless relief over the last three innings.
