The Phillies were shut out, 4-0, by Ernie McAnally and the Montreal Expos. It was another rough outing for Carlton, who is now well behind his real-life pace. They have lost the same number of games and in real life at this stage, he had four more wins.

McAnally was credited with the shutout, but in many ways, the Phillies lost it more than the Expos won it. They left 10 men on base and three times, had a runner on third base with one out or less. It’s been a rough go in August for Steve. In real life at this point, he had gone 14 decisions without a loss, though three of those were no-decisions.
