Dizzy Dean was shelled in both real life and in my replay, shown here. Diz allowed five runs in just two plus innings, before heading for an early shower, in a 6 to 1 loss to the Chicago Cubs. Lon Warneke went the distance for Chicago. He scattered nine hits but allowed just one run. That tally came in the first, when Frankie Frisch and Pepper Martin hit back-to-back doubles. Warneke reached double figures in strikeouts with ten. Dean hit Billy Jurges with a pitch in the top of the second. He had to leave the game and was replaced by Augie Galan.
