An absolutely gut-wrenching loss for the Cardinals, although Dizzy Dean was able to come out of it with a no-decision. Dean, who pitched eight innings, had a 6 to 1 lead after three innings, a 7 to 4 lead after six innings, but ended up on the short side of a 9-7 game, when Chicago scored five runs over the last two innings.

Bill Delancey clubbed a pair of homers, but it went for naught, as reliever, Jim Lindsay allowed three runs in the top of the ninth and was tagged with the loss. Dean has been shaky, but the bullpen has been even worse.
