Oh my, was this an ugly game. Dean got absolutely shellacked, giving up six earned runs in just 1.2 innings, in a 12 to 5 loss to the Brooklyn Dodgers. It was the shortest outing of the year for Dizzy and the team’s worst loss so far. St. Louis burned through five pitchers. Pepper Martin had three hits at the top of the order yet didn’t score a single run. Dean’s ERA has zoomed to over 3.50. Just a reminder that I’m only replaying Dizzy’s starts in 1934. He had four relief appearances.
