Dizzy Dean kept the good vibes going as he beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-2, in his longest outing of the year, an eleven-inning effort. Dean kept the Bucs scoreless through the first seven innings, then Paul Waner tagged him for a solo home run. Pittsburgh would add a sacrifice fly in the eighth, to tie the game at two. The Cardinals stuck with Dean, who had two singles at the plate, and they were rewarded with a three-run homer in the top of the ninth by Bill Delancey.
