Dizzy Dean has rattled off nine straight wins, his latest a 1-0 pitcher’s duel win over Pat Malone and the Chicago Cubs. Dean improves to 14-7, with his fifth shutout and tenth complete game of the year. As shaky as Dean was in May and June, he has been terrific in late July and August.

Chicago starter, Pat Malone was certainly solid, allowing just the one run in seven innings. That lone tally came in the bottom of the third, when Burgess Whitehead hit a one out single, moved to third on Jack Rothrock’s double, then scored on a Frankie Frisch base hit.
