The New York Giants put an end to Dizzy Dean’s nine game win streak by defeating the Cardinals, 9 to 2. St. Louis never had a chance against a fourteen-hit attack by the Giants. Travis Jackson had three hits and a home run. Hugh Critz, Bill Terry, Mel Ott and Gus Mancuso added two hits apiece, with Mancuso also hitting a home run. New York was also the last team St. Louis lost to, before starting Dean’s winning streak, back on June 27.
