New York’s Jo-Jo Moore hit a home run off Dizzy Dean on the game’s first pitch, but the Giants would not score after that, and the Cardinals went on to a 7-1 victory. Dean gave up just two hits, while going the distance for the thirteenth time. Joe Medwick was a single shy of the cycle, lacking only a single to complete the rare feat. Bill Delaney homered and added two singles.
