Dizzy Dean finished up the 1934 replay of his pitching season in style, with a 5-0 whitewash of the Cincinnati Reds. It was his sixth shutout of the season.

Here are his final statistics for the replay, with real life numbers in parentheses. WINS: 19(26), LOSSES: 8(5), NO DECISIONS: 6(2), ERA: 2.48(2.69), IP: 254.31(280.65), ER: 70(84), UER: 7(13), HA: 217(251), K: 160 (160), BB: 53(68), HBP: 2(6), WP: 1(2), HR ALW: 12(14), CG: 15(24), SHO: 6(7).

Bear in mind, these statistics are for starts only. No relief appearances were factored in. As often occurs in my replays, the featured pitcher has many less innings pitched than in real life. In this case, Dean had around thirty less innings pitched and about half again as many complete games.

He started very slow in the replay, losing five out of his first seven games. He caught fire in the middle of the summer, however. His record on June 27 was 5 and 7, but he reeled off nine wins in a row and was 14 and 7 on August 12. He would only lose one more game the rest of the year. The biggest difference was the no-decisions. He had only two in real life, whereas in the replay, he had six.
