Greg Maddux went six innings in this one, with a chance to win it. The Braves led, 2-1 heading into the ninth. Steve Bedrosian and Brad Clonz each pitched an inning of scoreless ball, before Mark Wohlers came in to close it in the top of the ninth. Unfortunately, he wasn’t up to the task. He gave up a game tying home run to Rico Brogna and the game went into extras. In the top of the tenth, Pedro Borbon surrendered back-to-back doubles, as the Mets went on to win, 2 to 1, leaving Maddux with his fourth, no-decision of the season. The loss snapped a ten-game win streak, as far as Greg Maddux’s starts are concerned.
