It looked as if Greg Maddux would collect his first loss in this game against the Philadelphia Phillies. He was trailing, 2-1, when he left the game after working seven innings. However, Atlanta picked up two runs in the top of the ninth, when Phillies reliever, Heathcliffe Slocum, blew the save opportunity. He walked the first two batters he faced, then allowed a rbi single, tying the game. Ricky Bottalico replaced Slocum and was touched for a second base hit by Rafael Belliard, putting the Braves up, 3-2. Mark Wohlers closed it out to clinch the comeback win. So, it’s back-to-back no-decisions for Mad Dog.
