New York’s Travis Jackson hit a game winning, two run homer in the bottom of the twelfth inning, as the Giants beat the Robins, 3-2. Both starters, Vance and Nehf, had marathon outings, going eleven innings and ten innings, respectively. The extra inning affair marked the first time Brooklyn has lost this year, with Dazzy Vance starting. It is the second straight no-decision for the Robins’ ace.
The Giants opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning. Frankie Frisch singled and stole second. He moved to third on an infield hit by Billy Southworth. Irish Meusel then drove Frisch in with a single. Brooklyn tied the game in the top of the sixth. Gene Bailey drew a walk, then Jimmy Johnston and Zach Wheat both singled.
The game remained tied 1-1, until the twelfth. The Giants’ George Kelly doubled, then Travis Jackson ended the game, with a two-run clout.
