The Cardinals’ Max Flack led off the game with a solo home run against Dazzy Vance. That’s the second straight game Vance has given up a long ball, after not giving up any in his first nine starts.

Hank DeBerry tied the game in the third inning, with a solo shot of his own. Brooklyn would add a run in the fourth and fifth innings, for a 3 to 1 advantage. Dazzy survived some drama in the ninth, when St. Louis loaded the bases with two outs, but pinch hitter, Specs Toporcer flew out to center to end the ball game.
