This was the third straight, 3 to 2 game that Dazzy Vance has started. They came up short in this one, as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Brooklyn Robins in eleven innings. Dazzy looked poised to notch another victory, putting up seven scoreless innings with a 2-0 lead. However, Vance ran into trouble in the eighth. After getting a quick two outs, Dazzy gave up a single, a walk and another single, to make it 2 to 1, Robins. Dazzy then left the mound, and Burleigh Grimes took over. He allowed a double to Pat Duncan, tying the game, before Rube Bressler flew out to left to end the inning. The score would remain knotted until the top of the eleventh. Babe Pinelli singled, advanced to third on a single by Boob Fowler, then scored the go-ahead run on a Curt Walker, pinch hit, sacrifice fly. Chick Shorten set the Robins down in order in the bottom of the eleventh to end the ball game.
