This was a strange game, in that, even though Dazzy went the distance and allowed just one run on four hits, it never really felt like Boston was out of it until very late. He kept the Braves off the scoreboard until the seventh inning. Prior to that, Boston twice had a runner in scoring position but couldn’t cash in. Brooklyn scored first, getting a run in the bottom of the second when Milt Stock doubled, the came around on a Tommy Griffith base hit. Brooklyn’s second tally came in the last of the sixth. Zack Wheat walked and stole second, then advanced to third on a Jack Fournier single. He scored on Eddie Brown’s sacrifice fly. Boston got an unearned run in the top of the seventh, thanks to a muff by Wheat. The Brooklyn left fielder more than made up for it, with a two-run clout in the bottom of the eighth.
