Dazzy Vance earned his fourth shutout on the season, defeating the Chicago Cubs, 5-0. Dazzy also helped out on the offensive end, with a solo home run off Sheriff Blake, in the top of the second inning. Blake, who was tagged for four runs over the first two innings, largely settled down for the most part, until Andy High and Jimmy Johnston hit back-to-back doubles, in the seventh.
The only real blemish against Vance, was the fact that he issued six walks. Fortunately, for him, not a single one of those free passes would come around to score. At this point, in the season, Vance trails his real-life win total by three and is ahead in the loss column by two. The biggest difference is the five no-decisions that Dazzy has in the replay.
