Each team scored a run in the first inning and the game remained tied until the sixth inning. With two out in the top of the sixth, Denver Grigsby doubled off Vance, then Gabby Hartnett tripled, putting the Cubs out front. Hooks Cotter then singled in Hartnett, making hit 3-2, Chicago, before the inning ended. Sadly, with only one game remaining, Vance cannot reach the twenty-win plateau.
