August 5th Detroit 7 Chicago 1
Another game, another shellacking. The Tigers just completed a three game sweep of the Chicago White Sox, as Dan Petry(11-6) toiled the entire game in a 7-1 win.
Chicago was able to manage just 3 runs in three games. Several Tigers had good days at the plate. Lou Whitaker hit his eleventh homerun, and had two runs scored and two runs batted in. Larry Herndon had a double and two walks, scoring twice. Rick Leach had a pair of doubles and two ribbies.
Detroit has been playing terrific ball, but the damn Orioles just won’t stop winning. The Tiges remain 3 back, and will try their luck next against the Yankees.
Other scores: Baltimore 4 Cleveland 3; Kansas City 6 Milwaukee 2; Texas 6 Boston 1; New York 3 Toronto 1.
