Stan Musial tripled and scored what would prove to be the winning run on Ron Northey’s double in the sixth, as the Cards edged the Pirates, 2-1.

St. Louis starter, Howie Powlett pitched a complete game, four hitter. His only mistake was a hanging curve to Eddie Bockman(2), who hit it out of the park for Pittsburgh’s only run.

Murray Dickson(1-1) scattered just six hits in the loss.
