PIRATES CAPITALIZE ON MISTAKES IN 5-2 WIN OVER CARDINALS

Errors by Marty Marion and Nippy Jones led to four of the five runs Pittsburgh scored, as they defeated St. Louis, 5-2.

Ed Stevens drove in four of the runs on a pair of two run singles. Pete Castigilione, in for Stan Rojak, tripled, as did Clyde McCullough.

Bill Werle(1-0) went the distance to earn the win. His only blemish was a two run homer by Stan Musial in the bottom of the first inning.
