1949 Pittsburgh Pirates Replay

April 29. Gm# 10 Crosley Field Cincinnati 15 Pittsburgh 2

REDS OBLITERATE PIRATES, 15-2!

The Pittsburgh Pirates were chewed up and spit out by a Cincinnati Reds team that was taking no prisoners.

The ugly spectacle ended in a 15-2 rout, with the Reds clubbing four round trippers against Pirate pitching, including a grand slam by Danny Litwhiler, in the fifth inning and back to back bombs by Jimmy Bloodworth and Ted Kluszewski, in the third.

Big Klu had more up his sleeveless sleeves, belting his second home run of the game, in the home half of the seventh inning.

Despite the long balls, several of the runs were unearned, as Les Fleming made two key errors at first base, and Stan Rojak booted one at second, which led to a run.

Bob Chesnes(0-1) was the unfortunate starter, and took the loss.
