BUCS EXPLODE FOR 7 RUNS IN ONE INNNG TO ROUT DODGERS
A two run home run by Dino Restelli(8) and a grand slam by Clyde McCullough(4), in the same inning no less, were the highlights of a 7 run Pirates eighth inning, as the Bucs routed the Brooklyn Dodgers, 8-3.
A complete meltdown by Brooklyn’s bullpen sealed the deal. Starter, Ralph Branca had pitched pretty well, holding Pittsburgh to just one run through seven. Brooklyn actually held a 3-1 lead until Restelli’s two run clout tied the game in the top of the eighth.
Things went horribly bad for Brooklyn at that point. Banta gave up a double to Ralph Kiner, then walked Westlake and Basgall.
Minner then came in and walked Stan Rojek, forcing in a run. He then allowed the grand salami to McCullough.
Tiny Bonham(3-2) picked up the win out of the pen.
