LOMBARDI GRINDS OUT COMPLETE GAME WIN FOR PIRATES
Pittsburgh used a series of doubles, six in total, and a gutsy pitching effort from Vic Lombardi(4-5), to stop the Boston Braves, 6-2
Tom Saffell, Ed Stevens, Ralph Kiner, Danny Murtaugh and Phil Masi all hit two baggers, with Stevens doubling twice.
As for Lombardi, he gave up a run in the first, and a second in the fifth, scattering seven hits, but he tempered that with six strikeouts, in his second complete game of the season.
