RED SOX OPEN HOMESTAND WITH 8-4 WIN OVER WHITE SOX

Ted Williams(8) had a huge day at the plate, with a homer, double and two singles, as Boston opened their latest homestand with an 8-4 win over Chicago.

Also getting in on the fun were, Dom DiMaggio(1), who went deep for the first time, Vern Stephens, who had three singles, Johnny Pesky, who had a single and a double, and last but not least, winning pitcher, Mickey McDermott(5-1), who hit a single and double and scored twice.

Gus Zernial homered in defeat for the White Sox.
