SERIES # 3. THREE GAMES. WON 2-1. KANSAS CITY VS CHICAGO.
The White Sox split a twinbill with the Royals, then took the finale, for their first series win of the year.
All the games were close, with both games of the double header decided by one run. The last game had a two run differential. Bill Melton(1) won the first game in dramatic fashion with a three run, walkoff homerun, after both Mike Andrews and Dick Allen had walked. Speaking of Allen, he really came to life in this series, after a slow start to the season. Dick had a homerun in each of the three games to now lead the club with (3). Cy Acosta(1-0) earned the win in the 7-6 Chicago victory.
The second game saw Chicago fall to a scrappy Kansas City club in a back and forth battle. An unearned run as a result of a Tom Egan error in the top of the ninth cost Steve Kealey(0-1) the ball game by a score of 8-7.
Game three saw the White Sox score twice in the seventh and once more in the eighth to pull ahead to stay, 7-5. Carlos May knocked in two and Allen and Ed Herrmann(2) both went deep. Dave Lemonds(1-0) was the winning pitcher.
Next series: Two games vs Cleveland.
