COMETS, PEACHES BOTH RIDE 8TH INN RALLYS TO VICTORY
Comets 5 Terrifics 3 The Comets were losing, 3-2, to the Terrifics, heading into the last of the eighth. Yogi Berra, subbing in for Roy Campanella, hit a homerun off Goose Gossage, after the Goose had retired the first two batters. He then walked Ken Boyer and surrendered another homer to Gil Hodges, giving the Comets the 5-3 comeback win. WP-Elroy Face(2-0). LP-Goose Gossage(0-1). HR-Reggie Jackson(5); Yogi Berra(2), Gil Hodges(4).
Peaches 8 Mad Dogs 6. As in the previous game, the Peaches were behind, heading into the eighth inning. In this case, the Mad Dogs held a 6-3 advantage. Al Leiter replaced starter, Roger Clemens and retired Hal Chase for the first out. Eddie Collins then singled and Roger Bresnahan clubbed a two run homer. Walter Johnson batted for himself and singled. Wildfire Schulte hit a second single, then Sherry Magee hit the coup de grace, a three run smash, as the Peaches went on an 8-6 victory.
