Steve Blass(2-0) earned his first complete game of the season, as Pittsburgh defeated Atlanta, 6-1, completing a three-game sweep of the Braves. The win puts the Pirates atop the N.L. east division, with a 10 and 5 record.

Blass missed a shutout in the top of the ninth, when Ralph Garr tripled to lead off the inning. He was quickly singled in by Felix Millan. Al Oliver(2) belted his second home run and drove in three of the Pirates’ six runs. Atlanta’s Ron Reed was the losing pitcher.
