PIRATES TAKE SERIES FROM METS WITH 7-1 IN IN FINALE
Pittsburgh banged out seven extra base hits, including Jose Pagan’s first home run of the season, as the Pirates got a solid six innings from Luke Walker, to beat New York, 7-1.
Walker gave up a run in the top of the first, but then settled down, to pitch five more frames. Bob Moose worked the seventh and eighth, while Mudcat Grant pitched the ninth to close it out. WP-Luke Walker(7-2). LP-Gary Gentry. HR-Jose Pagan(1).
The Bucs have a travel day off, then head to Philadelphia to play the Philles in a four game set, with a doubleheader. Steve Blass pitches against Jim Bunning in game one.
